Pegasus opens a new aircraft maintenance centre in Istanbul
Pegasus Airlines has expanded its technical facilities at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The first phase of the new aircraft maintenance centre is now operating after a project that began in January 2025 and was completed within a year.
The airline invested approximately USD 40 million in this opening stage. Bringing more maintenance work into its own facilities is intended to shorten turnaround times, use technical resources more efficiently and reduce the periods when aircraft are unavailable for service.
Two maintenance hangars and a paint facility
The first phase consists of two hangars for line and base maintenance, together with a separate paint hangar. The facility can handle five narrow-body aircraft at the same time.
It is authorised to work on Boeing 737 NG aircraft and the Airbus A320 and A321 CEO and NEO families. Its scope includes engine and landing gear replacement, avionics and structural modifications, base maintenance, full aircraft painting and livery work.

Further capacity planned for late 2026
Pegasus plans to put another base-maintenance hangar into service in the final quarter of 2026. It is designed to accommodate five more narrow-body aircraft at once. A third phase, due to begin in four to five years, would expand that hangar’s capacity to ten aircraft.
The centre will initially concentrate on the growing Pegasus fleet. Aircraft from other airlines may also be accepted later when capacity is available.
Digital maintenance and resource efficiency
The new site uses paperless maintenance procedures, a digital warehouse and electronic tool-management systems. Data analysis and preventive-maintenance tools are intended to identify technical requirements before they disrupt operations.
Energy efficiency and waste management were also considered in the design. The centre stands between the airport’s two runways, providing convenient access for aircraft moving to and from the hangars.
