Check-in for Pegasus Airlines flights

Pegasus Airlines offers four ways to check in: on the website, in the mobile app, at a self-service kiosk or at the airport counter. Checking in online in advance is the quickest option, particularly for passengers travelling with hand baggage only.

There is no separate fee for standard check-in. However, choosing a particular seat, adding baggage and purchasing other services may cost extra. After checking in, the passenger receives a boarding pass that can be saved on a phone, printed or collected at the airport.

Do not leave check-in until the last hour. The deadlines depend on the route and airport, and special restrictions apply to some international flights.

Pegasus Airlines online check-in

Online check-in is available on the Pegasus Airlines website and in the mobile app. To retrieve a booking, passengers need their PNR code together with their first and last name. The booking code can be found in the confirmation sent after the ticket was issued.

Check-in usually opens seven days before departure. It generally closes 60 minutes before the scheduled flight time, but this is only the standard rule: some airports close online check-in earlier.

Once check-in is complete, the system will offer the option of saving the boarding pass or sending it by email. Passengers who need a paper copy can print it themselves.

Passengers with checked baggage must still visit the Bag Drop counter. Baggage must be handed over before the check-in deadline. Passengers travelling with hand baggage only can proceed directly to security if the airport accepts electronic boarding passes. Additional passport and visa checks may still be required for international flights.

Check-in using the mobile app

Mobile check-in follows almost the same process as check-in on the website. Open the Check-in section of the Pegasus Airlines app, enter the booking details and verify the passenger information.

The boarding pass can then be saved on the phone. A link may also be sent by SMS or email. Open the link before travelling to the airport and save the boarding pass to the device. It will then remain accessible without mobile data or Wi-Fi.

Mobile boarding passes are not accepted at every airport. In some cases, passengers who have checked in online must still visit the counter so that their documents can be checked and a paper boarding pass issued.

Check-in at a Pegasus Airlines kiosk

Pegasus Self-Service kiosks are available at some airports. Passengers can use them to check in and print a boarding pass without waiting in the main queue.

The booking must first be retrieved at the kiosk. A PNR code and the passenger’s surname are usually sufficient. Depending on the equipment, the booking may also be retrieved using the electronic ticket number or passport.

The remaining steps are completed on the touchscreen. The passenger checks the flight details, selects a seat if necessary and confirms check-in. The kiosk then prints the boarding pass. Some machines used for international flights can read the data stored on a passport chip.

Passengers with hand baggage only can proceed to security after checking in. Checked baggage must be taken to the Online Check-in & Bag Drop counter or another counter indicated by airport staff.

Kiosks are not available everywhere, and their functions vary between airports. Check the departure airport’s website before travelling.

Check-in at the airport counter

Passengers who cannot check in online can obtain their boarding pass at the Pegasus Airlines counter. There is no separate fee for standard counter check-in.

Pegasus recommends arriving at least two hours before a domestic flight and approximately three hours before an international flight. Allow additional time during public holidays, school holidays and at large airports.

The 45- or 60-minute deadline is not the time to join the queue. Check-in and baggage drop must already be complete:

• domestic flight counters close 45 minutes before departure;
• international and Northern Cyprus flight counters close 60 minutes before departure.

Late passengers may be refused check-in even if the aircraft is still at the terminal.

Pegasus Airlines check-in times

Boarding for Pegasus Airlines flights closes 20 minutes before departure. Passengers must pass through security and, for international flights, passport control before this time. Once check-in is complete, it is best to find the correct gate without spending too long in the public area of the airport.

Pegasus Airlines mobile boarding pass

A mobile boarding pass contains a barcode or QR code that is scanned at security and before boarding. It is issued after check-in on the website or in the mobile app.

Before travelling, check that the passenger’s name, flight number, date and departure airport are correct. Increase the screen brightness before presenting the pass so that the scanner can read the code easily.

If the airport does not support mobile boarding passes, a paper copy will be required. It can be printed at home or collected from a kiosk or check-in counter.

Passport and visa

Travel document requirements are determined by the authorities of the destination and transit countries, not by the airline. Before an international journey, check the passport validity requirements, visa rules and transit conditions.

For entry into Turkey, a foreign passenger’s passport must generally remain valid for at least 60 days beyond the permitted period of stay. Exceptions apply to certain nationalities. The exact requirements are published on the website of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs >>.

Citizens of countries that require an electronic visa can apply through the official government portal evisa.gov.tr >>. It is better to arrange the visa in advance instead of relying on obtaining one after arrival.

Passengers flying from Turkey to another country must follow the rules of their destination. Additional transit documents may also be required for connecting journeys.

Documents for domestic flights within Turkey

An original photo ID must be presented for a domestic flight. Pegasus Airlines accepts:

• a national identity card;
• a driving licence;
• a passport;
• a baby’s birth certificate during the first month after birth, together with the parent’s identification document.

Foreign passengers should use their passport. They should also carry documents confirming their legal stay in Turkey where required.

Documents that are not accepted

A photograph of a passport on a phone does not replace the original document. The following will also not be accepted:

• a photocopy or fax copy of an identity document;
• an online printout of a Turkish Republic identification number;
• a copy of a passport or driving licence;
• an expired or damaged document.

Documents for international flights

Passengers need a valid passport for an international flight. Depending on the route, a visa, residence permit, return ticket or proof of onward travel may also be required. All documents must be ready before arrival at the airport.

Turkish citizens travelling to Northern Cyprus may use a passport or national identity card. A driving licence is not accepted for this journey.

Passengers under 18 travelling to Northern Cyprus with a Turkish identity card may need notarised parental consent:

• when travelling alone — from their mother or father;
• when travelling with their mother only — from their father;
• when travelling with their father only — from their mother.

The rules for minors depend on nationality, accompanying adults and border-control requirements. Check them before purchasing the ticket or, at the latest, before travelling to the airport.
